In 24 hours, the Russian occupation forces shelled Soledar 86 times with different types of artillery. This was reported by the spokesman of the Eastern Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Serhiy Cherevatyi, Ukrinform reports.
"The situation there is currently the most difficult within the Eastern Front. All units of the Wagner PMC are focused on this axis. The Defense Forces are striving for maximum attrition of the Russian army, so that even the slightest success would turn out to be a defeat for it," he added.
Earlier, Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi reported that the Russians attempted to storm the city of Soledar from different directions and threw the most professional units of the Wagner PMC into battle.
Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar also claimed that Russian troops are attacking by "literally walking over the corpses of their own soldiers," massively using artillery, multiple-launch rocket systems, and mortars, even shelling their own soldiers.
Meanwhile, Russian businessman and creator of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin refuted the statements of Russian propaganda about alleged cases of desertion in the Armed Forces of Ukraine from positions near Soledar.
