Invaders shelled school in Severodonetsk, where several hundred people were hiding. There are reports of fatalities

The Russian army fired artillery at a school in Severodonetsk, where civilians were hiding at that time. According to Serhiy Haidai, head of the Luhansk Regional Military Administration, there were more than 200 people in the premises.

Three adults died on the spot as a result of the attack. The police of the Luhansk region are making efforts to transport people to another shelter.

In total, since the beginning of the invasion, Russia has destroyed 348 civilian infrastructure facilities in the Luhansk region. Among them: at least 16 university buildings, 103 schools, 49 kindergartens, 17 sports facilities, 37 healthcare institutions, 7 railway stations, etc.

Context. According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), Russian troops have recently stepped up operations to advance north and west from Popasna in preparation for an offensive against Severodonetsk.

The experts also came to the conclusion that the occupying army continues to suffer from a lack of personnel in the reserve, which forces the Russian military command to consolidate the depleted battalion tactical groups (BTG). The Pentagon estimates that there are currently 106 BTGs operating in Ukraine, but the enemy had to disband and combine some of them to offset losses.
