Russia is pulling in additional troops to the Kursk region on the border with Sumy Oblast of Ukraine. This is reported by the Russian outlet Meduza, citing Roman Starovoit, head of the region.
In Russia, such moves were called "strengthening security measures, taking into account the evolving situation in the border areas." According to the governor, "a large number of personnel of the Ministry of Defense, additional weapons in the form of artillery and missile launchers have already arrived and are in the region."
"There are reports coming from the border areas that people are hearing explosions — this is our army working (…) in the adjacent territory," Starovoit said about the war in Ukraine.
