It was not Kyiv, Odesa, or Lviv that ranked first In the rating of the best cities for life in Ukraine in 2021, but Vinnitsa did. The results of the Ukrainian Municipal Survey conducted by the International Republican Center together with the outlet NV indicate that Vinnytsia residents are most satisfied with their city.
When compiling the rating, its authors took into account the satisfaction of Ukrainians with services in the following areas:
- utilities (garbage collection, heating, courtyards, and adjoining territories);
- infrastructure (condition of roads, sidewalks, parking, access for people with disabilities, public transport, etc.);
- humanitarian sector (educational,health care, sports, and cultural institutions);
- other areas (parks and squares, ecology, police activities, industrial development).
The compilers analyzed data of 24 regional centers and major cities of the country, excluding the temporarily occupied territories. The settlements were assessed according to 22 criteria.
In 2021 the top was headed by Vinnytsia, Lutsk, and Ivano-Frankivsk.
A powerful IT cluster with a large number of specialists in the city fostered Vinnytsia’s victory. Labor mobility at a high level played an equally important role (thanks to the Intercity train that goes to Kyiv every day).
