Putin wanted to establish the production of Bayraktars — Erdoğan

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin offered cooperation with the Turkish Baykar, the manufacturer of Bayraktar drones.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan told about this during the meeting of the executive committee of the Justice and Development Party, CNN Türk reports.

According to Erdoğan, Russia and the United Arab Emirates want to work with Baykar.

In particular, Putin proposed building a factory in Russia like they did in the UAE, Erdoğan said.

At the same time, Haluk Bayraktar, the CEO of Baykar, has previously said in his interview with CNN that the company would never give its UAVs to Russia.

The Turkey-made drones have been operated by the Ukrainian Navy since 2021. After the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Russians have repeatedly resented the military cooperation between Kyiv and Ankara.

In particular, the media discovered that Putin even tried to blackmail Erdoğan by threatening to extend the ban on flights to Turkey (imposed because of the Covid-19) if Ankara doesn’t stop providing Bayraktar drones and other support to Ukraine.

The TB2 is a flat, grey unmanned aerial vehicle with angled wings and a rear propeller, capable of carrying laser-guided bombs.

This UAV is quite small and costs much less than similar American and Israeli-made drones. The bombs it carries can adjust their trajectory in midair and are so accurate that they can be delivered into an infantry trench.
