New conditions for tightening quarantine: how local authorities will change restrictions

The Cabinet has changed the indicators under which local authorities can introduce additional restrictions in the "orange" zone of epidemic danger.

This is stated in the government resolution No. 231 of March 22.

Local authorities can tighten quarantine restrictions in the "orange" zone if:

  • the number of identified new cases of coronavirus within the last seven days within a particular territorial community exceeds 70;
  • the number of identified new cases of coronavirus in the past seven days exceeds the number of cases in the same period by 50% or more.

Context. The Cabinet expanded the powers of local authorities in the introduction of quarantine in the "red" zone of epidemic danger.

It is the local authorities who will decide whether or not to prohibit regular and irregular passenger transportation by road and railway.
