During the 4th Festival of Aviation and Space Technologies TEKNOFEST-2021 in Istanbul, the Ukrainian company Motor Sich and the Turkish Baykar Makina signed a cooperation agreement.
"Akinci is our strategic-level unmanned system, it is already being supplied to the Turkish Armed Forces. It is a product of the highest technological level. We cooperate effectively with Ukraine in terms of engines, in particular, with Ivchenko-Progress and Motor Sich," Halyuk Bayraktar, Chief Technology Officer at Baykar said after signing the agreement.
The details of the agreement were not disclosed.
Context. At TEKNOFEST in Istanbul, the Turkish-made Akinci drone was presented, which is an example of cooperation between Ukraine and Turkey in the military-technical field (it is equipped with Ukrainian-made engines). At the opening of the festival, this drone made a demonstration flight.
Since 2019, Ukraine has been purchasing Bayraktar TB2 attack drones (pictured below) produced by Baykar Makina.
