Pro-Russian MP Viktor Medvedchuk, detained by the Security Service of Ukraine, addressed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Putin with a proposal to exchange him for the defenders and residents of Mariupol. This is reported in the SSU’s Telegram channel.
"I'd like to address Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin with a proposal to exchange me for the defenders and residents of Mariupolwho are in a besieged city without a safe exit through humanitarian corridors," he said.
Context. Earlier, Petro Andriushchenko, the adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, reported that from Monday, April 18, the Russian invaders would finally close Mariupol for entry and exit for everyone and prohibit movement in order to filter out 100% of the men remaining in the city.
About 120,000 civilians still remain in the besieged Mariupol.
