The Ukrainian group of companies Lekhim that unites enterprises of the pharmaceutical industry, announced the start of the vaccine against coronavirus production. This refers to a drug from the Chinese Sinovac Biotech called CoronaVac, the press service of the Kharkiv City Council reports.
The process is expected to be launched in 2022. Lekhim expects to invest 25-30 million euros in production.
Context. This year Lekhim became the official supplier of CoronaVac in Ukraine.
The intentions to produce vaccines against coronavirus in Ukraine became known back in July. At that time the Ministry of Health reported that the requirements of the World Health Organization stood in the way of the plan's quick implementation. The Ministry of Health noted that the fastest localization option could be the production of an inactivated vaccine like CoronaVac or an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer and Moderna).
Recall that Ukrainians are vaccinated with the following vaccines:
- British-Swedish AstraZeneca;
- Chinese Sinovac (CoronaVac);
- American-German Pfizer (BioNTech);
- American Moderna.
