Deputy Chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Oleksii Gromov, estimates that around 50 Lancet-type drones and 200 Shahed-type drones remain in Russia.
"The enemy uses a significant number of UAVs of various types. In particular, Russia received up to 1,800 Shahed-type drones from Iran, of which about 1,600 drones have been used during the hostilities, and more than 200 drones remain," he noted.
Oleksii Gromov added that the stocks of these UAVs are constantly replenished due to supplies from Iran. In addition, the Russian Federation reached agreements with this country to build a factory for the production of "Shahed"-type drones on the territory of Tatarstan, 10 km outside of Kazan.
"The enemy is also actively using Lancet-type loitering munitions of its own design, which are mass-produced at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant joint-stock company, which is part of the Kalashnikov concern. In total, up to 900 such munitions were manufactured, of which 850 were used in the combat zone. Accordingly, their stock at the present time is approximately 50 UAVs," the general said.
He noted that, as a result of Western economic sanctions and a lack of access to modern technologies, the enemy's technological capabilities for the production of modern drones remain limited.
