Grain harvest in Ukraine is likely to be about 20% lower than in 2021 due to reduced sowing areas following the war unleashed by the Russians against Ukraine.
This was reported by the British Ministry of Defense on Twitter.
The report states that high grain prices could have serious implications for global food markets and threaten global food security. This is especially true for "certain least economically developed countries."
In particular, the reduction in grain supplies from Ukraine will raise grain prices and generate additional inflationary pressure.
Note that Ukraine is the fourth largest producer and exporter of agricultural products in the world.
Earlier, the UN warned that the blockade of the Black Sea ports of Ukraine could lead to a global food disaster.
Analysts of the APK-Inform agency have preliminary estimated the production of grains and oilseeds in Ukraine in 2022 at 53.3 million tons, which is 51% lower than the record figure of the previous season.
