The people's deputy from the party Servant of the People and the Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev said that Ukraine would tax Google, Facebook and Netflix and explained how this would happen.
In an interview with Hromadskу Tv, he said that technogiants should also pay value added tax, but so far there are no tools in the law to administer this activity. In this regard, Ukraine has spelled out in the new draft law the obligation of e-commerce services to pay this tax.
That is, the new tax will not be introduced, large tech giants will pay the one that already exists, but the mechanism will be simplified to make it easier for them to do this. It is about remote registration in an electronic account, payment of tax in foreign currency, communication in English with the tax service. He also suggested that because of this, certain services may rise in price, explaining that if the product is in demand, then the tax is shifted to the consumer.
Context. Earlier, Hetmantsev said that in Ukraine it is necessary to consider reducing the burden on the wage fund.
"The current situation is that our advertisers have to pay VAT, and the big transnational giants, for some reason, are actually exempt from VAT. This is a wrong situation, we must fix it. And by the way, we met with Facebook, with other large companies, and they did not mind paying this tax."
