The newly appointed Head of Naftogaz, Yuriy Vitrenko, stated that one of the conditions for reducing gas prices in Ukraine is to increase gas production in the country.
He told this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine, adding that Naftogaz, together with Ukrgazvydobuvannya, would study the possibilities of increasing production.
«Ukrgasvydobuvannya should produce more and, accordingly, supply more to the market—on transparent terms, equal for everyone. There must be equal access to its own production resource, so that no one can accuse Naftogaz of monopoly, so that fair rules of the game work, the same for everyone.»

According to him, the company does not plan to buy gas from Russia, since the gas that the country buys in Europe is cheaper. Vitrenko explained that the "pressure of Naftogaz" on the Russian Gazprom will contribute to the decrease in gas prices.
