As part of sanctions against Russian oligarchs for the war in Ukraine, the European Union has frozen their assets worth about 10 billion euros. This is reported by Der Spiegel.
The Russian oligarchs have lost access to their funds, real estate, and luxury yachts in the European Union over the sanctions. As of April 8, this amount reached about 6.7 billion. The total amount of Russian assets frozen in the EU, together with these funds, at that time was approximately 30 billion euros.
It is noted that the European Commission may soon make a legislative proposal that will allow the confiscation of frozen Russian assets.
Recall that the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen allowed the use of these frozen assets for Ukraine’s recovery.
