U.S. President Joe Biden expressed his readiness to undertake a mission to Ukraine. On April 14, as he was walking towards his plane, journalists asked him a few questions.
— Will you send senior officials to Ukraine?
President: We... We will make this decision now. Thank you.
— Who would you send?
President: Are you ready to go?
— Are you?
President: Yes.
Earlier, Politico reported, citing sources, that the U.S. administration had been conducting internal discussions about a possible trip of a senior US official to Kyiv in order to demonstrate support for Ukraine. Likely candidates for the trip could be U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken or Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
The administration is also considering the candidacies of the American President himself and Vice President Kamala Harris.
Politico's interlocutors note that if such a trip takes place, it will not be announced in advance for security reasons.
