Azovstal: Marine commander Serhiy Volyna appeals to Elon Musk for help with evacuation

Serhiy Volynskyi (Volyna), commander of the 36th separate marine brigade, which, together with the Azov regiment, is defending Mariupol, appealed to billionaire Elon Musk for help with extraction from Azovstal. He wrote about this on his Twitter page.

Quote"People say you come from another planet to teach people to believe in the impossible. Our planets are next to each other, as I live where it is nearly impossible to survive. Help us get out of Azovstal to a mediating country. If not you, then who? Give me a hint," the Ukrainian warrior wrote.

Extraction, or exfiltration, implies displacement from enemy-controlled territory to a safe zone. This procedure is implemented by agreement between the two opposing sides and a third country that should pick up the military personnel and guarantee that they will not get into Ukraine until the end of the war. That is, they will be on its territory and will not engage in armed struggle.

Context. On May 7, Serhiy Volyna said that the defenders were in a hellish reality show watched by the whole world. And they still hope that the decision to save them will be made. The Ukrainian side offers the Russians to exchange the seriously wounded Ukrainian soldiers who remain at Azovstal for prisoners of war of the Russian Federation. There is no agreement yet. Negotiations continue.
