All-Ukrainian lockdown: will the government introduce total quarantine? Photo: UNIAN
Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Lyashko believes that there is no need to introduce an all-Ukrainian lockdown. After all, the situation in the quarantined zones has stabilized. However, Lviv recently introduced a tight lockdown with restrictions on transport and the closure of educational institutions. Also, the city authorities reported the likelihood of tightening quarantine in Kyiv.
He told about this on the air of the program "Mokryk po Zhyvomu" on hromadske.
According to him, for example, in the Ivano-Frankivsk region, where quarantine was tightened in mid-February, the situation has stabilized and has begun to decrease.
That is why it makes no sense to say that it is necessary to close the whole of Ukraine. In addition, the situation is improving in Zakarpattia, Chernivtsi, and Zhytomyr region.
The situation has also become more stable in Kyiv, Kherson, and Kirovohrad regions. And in the Cherkasy region 36% of beds with oxygen are occupied.
However, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada, Dmytro Razumkov, notes that the introduction of a lockdown throughout Ukraine is theoretically possible if more than half of the regions get into the "red" quarantine zone.
At the same time, Minister of the Cabinet Oleh Nemchinov stated last week that the government did not intend to introduce an all-Ukrainian quarantine. He noted that only restrictions in certain regions were currently being considered.
However, NSDC Secretary Oleksiy Danilov said in an interview with BBC News that the council could hold a separate meeting on the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine and, if necessary, introduce a nationwide lockdown.
