AFU marines in Mariupol battle through to tie in with Azov regiment — Arestovych

Units of the 36th Marine Brigade battled through to tie in with the Azov regiment in Mariupol for joint military operations against the Russian invaders.

This was reported by Oleksiy Arestovych, advisor to the President.

"In Mariupol, units of the 36th Marine Brigade, as a result of a complex and very risky maneuver, battled through to tie in with the Azov regiment that professionally provided this operation," he informed.

As a result, the grouping of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Mariupol have gained the following advantages:

  • the Azov regiment has got significant reinforcements;
  • the 36th brigade has avoided defeat in parts and has got additional significant opportunities, in fact, has got a second chance;
  • the city defenders, by joint efforts, significantly reinforced their defense area.

"The defense system of the city has increased and has been reinforced. This is what happens when officers do not lose their heads, but firmly maintain command and control of the troops," Arestovych concluded.

Recall that the day before, the defenders of Mariupol detected the use of unknown poisonous nerve agents by the enemy.

The Ukrainian authorities are verifying information about the possible use of chemical weapons by Russian invaders in Mariupol. This was stated by Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar on the morning of April 12 on TV. It has been alleged that it was phosphorus ammunition.

Phosphorus ammunition is a type of incendiary and smoke weapon. Their use is not prohibited by international conventions, but is significantly limited.
