In 2021, Ukrposhta plans to sell several objects that it owns, including, in particular, the building of the Central Post Office that is located on Khreshchatyk. This was stated by the General Director of Ukrposhta Ihor Smilyanskyi in an interview with UBR.
He also added that selling the building is not a priority right now, but the company will accept a purchase offer from the casino.
«I hope that an investor will appear, but this should be dealt with separately. There are other priorities—sorting center, IT transformation, 1,800 mobile branches, a bank. Then there will be more time to deal with the Main Post Office, meet with potential investors, see what should be here: a hotel, a casino, something else.»
According to him, the building should not visually change, but air conditioners can be removed to make it as historical as possible, but for this it is necessary to do reconstruction, install an internal air conditioning system that requires large enough funds. He also added that if there is a casino in the building, then it will be "historical" and there will be investors who will be able to reconstruct it.
"In my opinion, this is much better for the people of Kyiv than when postal cars go to the Maidan and create traffic jams," added Smilyanskyi.
Context. Earlier, Ukrposhta decided to sell the first 30 objects, or 177 units for the amount of 82.6 million UAH. The company will sell those objects that it does not use in its economic activities.
