A military-style vyshyvanka (a traditional Ukrainian embroidered shirt) from the Ukrainian brand Etnodim, worn by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on May 19, was sold at a charity auction. The law firm Asters USA became the new owner of the embroidered shirt, the lot cost it $100,000.
According to Voice of America, in addition to Zelenskyy's vyshyvanka, the following lots were auctioned off:
- T-shirts with the signatures of the Ukrainian national team players Artem Dovbyk and Andriy Yarmolenko (from the game against Scotland),
- a ceramic cockerel (similar to the one that survived the shelling in Borodianka),
- Ukrainian flag autographed by Zelenskyy,
- bottles of wine from the storehouses that survived the shelling,
- postage stamps with a cult phrase about the Russian ship, etc.
The new owners of the cockerel and Yarmolenko's T-shirt — Americans of Ukrainian origin Gania Cherniak and Ihor Samokish — paid a total of $ 1,700 for the purchases.
The charity auction was held at the Ukrainian House in Washington during the presentation of the United24 Unified State Web Portal for collecting donations in support and recovery of Ukraine. All proceeds will be transferred via the online platform to the NBU accounts, and after that they will be distributed by the ministries for the most important needs of Ukraine.
