The Russian government has expanded the list of Ukrainian companies that are subject to economic sanctions. The final list contains 84 companies. It includes three companies and two subsidiaries from Odesa, two companies from Dnipro, as well as legal entities registered in Poltava and Panama.
The list of new companies that have been sanctioned:
- Donmar, Odesa;
- Craneship, Odesa;
- Maxima metal service, Dnipro;
- Poltava Automotive Unit Plant, Poltava;
- Solar Steel Construction, Dnipro;
- Transship, Odesa;
- Transship Bulk, Odesa;
- Transship-service, Odesa;
- Kirgan Holding S.A., Panama.
Sanctions against Ukraine regarding individuals and legal entities were introduced in November 2018 in response to restrictions from Ukraine. The original list included 68 companies.
In October 2020, the Russian government authorized the supply of equipment and products from three Ukrainian companies: Bratslav, Barsky Machine-Building Plant, and Rubezhansky Cardboard Plant. The restrictions were lifted after Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin met with Viktor Medvedchuk, people's deputy of Ukraine and godfather of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. Before that, Medvedchuk had a meeting with Putin.
Context. The expansion of the Russian list was in response to the decision of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (dated January 28, 2021) to impose sanctions against legal entities and individuals from Russia.
