Russia rejected Ukraine’s demands requisite for the renewal of negotiations. The Ukrainian foreign ministry responded

The Russian side rejected the conditions announced by Ukraine for a possible renewal of the negotiation process. The Kremlin demands taking into account the "situation on the ground".

Quote"Such conditions are unacceptable. Our president (Russian dictator Putin — The Page) has repeatedly stated that we are willing to negotiate, but these negotiations, naturally, must take into account the situation on the ground," Russian deputy foreign minister Aleksandr Grushko said, quoted by the propagandist outlet RIA Novosti.

The Ukrainian foreign ministry has responded by reminding the Kremlin that Russia is now "not in a position to dictate the rules."

The speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oleh Nikolenko, reiterated the prerequisites for Ukraine to be ready to sit at the negotiation table with Russia:

  • immediate discontinuation of hostilities and withdrawal of all Russian troops,
  • restoration of Ukrainian territorial integrity,
  • compensation for the damages inflicted,
  • effective guarantees of non-repetition of aggression.

Unless Russia meets these demands, "it will be impossible to achieve stable peace," Nikolenko summed up.

Context. On November 9, the spokesperson for the Russian foreign ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Russia was ready to negotiate "taking into account the reality that has developed to date". A day earlier, Andrey Rudenko, the deputy foreign minister of Russia, said that Russia had no demands with respect to the beginning of negotiations with the Ukrainian side.

Meanwhile, the position of the Ukrainian side on negotiations remains adamant: they will be possible only after Russia gives back all Ukrainian territories and withdraws its troops from our country. Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, has recently stressed it once again.
