The Ukrainian Minister of Defense, Rustem Umierov, met with his Belgian counterpart, Ludivine Dedonder, to discuss all the details of the delivery of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The discussion was focused on the training of Ukrainian pilots and the provision of necessary equipment for the planes.
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reported this on Telegram.
"We highly appreciate your unwavering support and comprehensive participation in the process of strengthening the defense capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," Rustem Umierov emphasized.
According to the Ukrainian defense minister, the process of establishing supply chains for ammunition, spare parts, and maintenance equipment for F-16 fighter jets has to be started now.
Belgium is willing to deliver F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in 2025 as an additional step to boost the country’s defense capabilities.
The ministers also discussed the visit of representatives of the Belgian defense industry to Ukraine in early 2024 to exchange experience and ensure mutual understanding.
The total amount of technical assistance from the Kingdom of Belgium to the Ukrainian Defense Forces amounts to more than €320 million.

The F-16 fighter jet is the best option for Ukraine because it’s lightweight and cheap to maintain. At the same time, the F-16 is able to accomplish virtually any aerial mission, from air combat to high-precision bombing.

Earlier, 
reported that Ludivine Dedonder pledged to send Ukraine F-16 fighter jets in 2025. In addition, Belgium ensures the training of Ukrainian pilots and proposes to provide maintenance for the entire coalition F-16 fleet.
