Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada adopted a law that codifies the status of the English language as a language of international communication in Ukraine. Member of Parliament Yaroslav Zhelezniak announced this on Telegram.
"The law defines the categories of positions that require English proficiency from the candidates. In particular, the law regulates the use of the English language in the work of state authorities, local governments, emergency services, during the crossing of the state border, and in the fields of education, transport, and healthcare," the MP reported.
The provision that required cinemas to screen movies shot in English in their original language with Ukrainian subtitles was removed by a parliamentary committee.
"So, those who advocated for Ukrainian dubbing, rest easy," Zhelezniak added.
