The Armed Forces of Ukraine stopped the Russian army in the Chernihiv region and repelled the attack on Mariupol, Shchastia, and Zmiinyi Island. This is reported by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its Facebook page.
"The Ukrainian defense forces are holding back the offensive of the Russian aggressor. In the Chernihiv region, the enemy was stopped. Hard battles are being fought in the Kharkiv direction and in the region of the Joint Forces Operation. The situation is difficult in the Kherson direction, but the defense forces of Ukraine are rebuffing the aggressor," Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated.
Context. Today, on February 24 at 4 am, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a military operation against Ukraine. The reason was the appeal of the leaders of the so-called LDPR Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik, in which they requested him to protect them from "military aggression" from the Ukrainian state.
