Closed airports, train and bus delays: how snowfalls have paralyzed transport in Ukraine

Airports in Vinnytsia and Chernivtsi have suspended their work due to snowfall. The rest of the Ukrainian airports are operating normally, continuing to receive and send planes, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on the Telegram channel.

For example, earlier the Boryspil airport told the Interfax-Ukraine agency that it was operating normally, and the enterprise's aerodrome service provided the necessary adhesion coefficient on the runway, taxiways, and aprons. The same situation was at the Igor Sikorsky Kyiv International Airport (Zhuliany). All flights there were performed according to the schedule.

Running trains during snowfall

The press service of Ukrzaliznytsia reports that it is operating normally, despite the bad weather, there have been no significant flight delays. The press service also added that in case of train delays, the company had tooken special measures to deliver passengers to the airport.

"Yesterday there were 2 tangible delays due to bad weather, but no cancellations of the train frequency. Special connections and direct transportation to the airport by KyivBoryspilExpress were organized for passengers who were in a hurry to catch their plane at Boryspil," wrote the Acting Board Member of Ukrzaliznytsia, Director of the Passenger Company branch Oleksandr Pertsovskyi on his page.

The company also added that more than 7,000 railway workers and 4 snow plows were involved in the snow control activities. The work was carried out almost throughout the territory of Ukraine.

Long-distance buses during snowfall

As for the long-distance bus service, there was no information on the cancellation of their frequency on sites such as Autolux or Gunsel. And on the "hotline" of the latter, The Page was told that all buses run according to the schedule posted on the website..

"There are delays, but it is impossible to predict the delay of a particular bus," they added.
