uResidency, an electronic residency program for foreign businesses, launched in test mode

uResidency is an electronic residency program for foreigners to register their businesses in Ukraine and operate them from any place. All the steps, from applying for e-residency to paying taxes, are fully online. The program has recently been launched in closed beta testing mode, according to the Ministry of Digital Transformation.

The program provides the following benefits to Ukraine:

  • e-residents will pay taxes to the Ukrainian budget;
  • digital products scaled up to foreign markets will foster the development of the banking sector;
  • additional opportunities for raising investments will be created;
  • the country will rise in international rankings, such as Doing Business.

The program is focused on small business owners from Asia and Europe. This includes IT professionals and creative industries.

After the beta testing of uResidency is completed, the program will be available to nationals from four pilot countries: India, Pakistan, Thailand, and Slovenia.

The uResidency project is supported by the European Union as part of the EU4DigitalUA and DT4UA projects implemented by the Estonian e-Governance Academy.
