Russia’s full-scale invasion affects the lives and financial standing of people: only 5% say they are comfortable living off their current income. Electricity is a problem for 50% of the population, and the Internet is a problem for another 26%.
Despite all this, Ukrainians do whatever they can to support their Armed Forces and fellow citizens in need of help: 88% of the respondents said they donated money to support the army, and 67% donated for humanitarian aid. More than half of the country has hosted or helped internally displaced people, and 41% are volunteering.
The nationwide survey was developed and conducted by the National Democratic Institute in Ukraine. Survey fieldwork was conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology on January 4–16, 2023, using the CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview) method, which included 2,508 completed interviews. The margin of error for the national sample is 2.2%.
