Grain exports from Ukraine between January and November 2022 decreased by 24.7% versus 2021. These statistics were published on the Diia.Business platform.
In January 2022, Ukraine managed to export grain worth $1.6 billion, which is 178% more compared to the same period in 2021. In February, there was another $1.33 billion. However, the full-scale Russian invasion caused grain sales to decrease three to five times in the following months.
Only in September did grain exports start to increase ($9.5 billion), reaching $9.96 billion. As before, grain remains a major category of Ukraine’s exports.
The other largest Ukrainian export items in 2022 were fats and oils ($5.44 billion), ferrous metals ($4.4 billion), and oil seeds and oleaginous fruits ($3.41 billion).
Earlier, we wrote that trade with the EU accounted for 63.3% of Ukraine’s exports in 2022.
The total amount of Ukraine’s exports during the first 11 months of 2022 shrank from $61.3 billion to $40.7 billion (by 36.6%).
