During the day of war, Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed more Russian troops than they died over 8 years of war in Syria

On the first day of the invasion of Ukraine, Russia lost more of its troops than over the eight years of war in Syria.

As is estimated by The Economist, despite the fact that Ukraine did not prevail the Russians in weapons and numbers, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) inflicted more casualties on Russia in 24 hours than the latter suffered over eight years of hostilities in Syria.

Quote"Russia continues to wage war in Ukraine, the fighting has not been as one-sided as might have been expected. Ukraine’s anti-tank weapons have presented serious resistance to Russia’s advances in the north and east. This may strike some as surprising. Because on paper, Ukraine’s military budget is smaller than that of city-state Singapore," the outlet noted.

As the press service of the Ground Forces of the AFU noted on February 25, the number of casualties from the occupation forces of Russia exceeded 1,000 soldiers. This is the largest number in the history of Moscow waging such hostilities. Currently, the number of casualties of the Russian troops has exceeded 3,500, according to the press service.

Russia’s casualties in war over the past day

At the same time, over the last day of war against Ukraine, the Russian invaders lost at least three SU-30SMs, 11 helicopters of various types, two SU-25s, two IL-76MDs along with paratroopers, a convoy of military equipment, and an echelon with fuel.

As noted in the press service of the Air Force Command of the AFU, air defense continues to inflict significant casualties on the occupiers’ aircraft, armored vehicles, and manpower of the enemy.

Enemy military equipment was destroyed by Su-27 fighters, combat crews of S-300 and Buk M-1 anti-aircraft missile systems. The Su-24M front-line bomber of the UAF destroyed a convoy of 20 pieces of military equipment in a single firing run.

Quote"The crew of the Bayraktar TB-2 unmanned aerial system worked like lightning. It destroyed an entire railway echelon with fuel and lubricants," the press service noted.
