Zelensky is on his way to Biden: updated schedule of visit

During his official visit to the United States, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, according to the updated schedule, will be in Washington on August 31 and September 1. After that, according to the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States Oksana Markarova, the head of state will leave for California.

According to Markarova, the schedule for Zelensky's visit has already been agreed upon by both parties.

"From what has already been planned in Washington—a meeting of the Presidents of Ukraine and the United States in the White House, the main components of this meeting have already been planned and agreed by both sides, meetings with the heads of Ministries that are critical for Ukrainian-American relations, as well as two important public presentations from the President and the First Lady for representatives of the media, the public, and information and analytical centers," the Ambassador said.

In addition, the Ukrainian House will be opened during the visit.

Context. Prior to this, Presidents Zelenskyy and Biden did not meet in person, only had a phone conversation.

Prior to the conversation that took place on June 7, Biden had already wanted to invite his Ukrainian counterpart to Washington, but had changed his mind after the personnel scandal at Naftogaz.

In May 2019, Zelenskyy met with then US President Donald Trump. The meeting took place amid a scandal involving the telephone conversation of the Heads of State.
