Ukrzaliznytsia has a project to organize a railway connection at a speed of up to 350 km/h from Kyiv to the largest regional cities of Ukraine, in particular, to Lviv, Kharkiv, and Odesa.
Now the project is being discussed and the search for investors is underway, said Volodymyr Zhmak, Chairman of the Board of Ukrzaliznytsia.
"For this we need investments. We will not implement this project ourselves, therefore we need an investor who is interested in the concession approach," Zhmak said.
According to him, the only way to attract funding for the project is a concession, primarily a concession for railway stations.
"Now we are talking about 7 stations, perhaps Lviv will also join," noted Volodymyr Zhmak.
He noted that there are people interested in organizing high-speed railway traffic in Ukraine.
"For passengers and for Ukrzaliznytsia, the railway station needs a track, a waiting room and two offices to sell tickets. Everything else will be a shopping center. We want to make the stations according to the European model, when up to 60% of the stations’ visitors are not passengers, but come there as in a shopping center," summed up Volodymyr Zhmak.
Earlier it was reported that Ukrzaliznytsia would reduce the length of track sections where train speed limits are in effect at the beginning of 2021.
