Ukrzaliznytsia has lost a third of its fixed assets. The Rada Commission proposes to take the company's Board to court

The Temporary Investigative Commission (TIC) of the Verkhovna Rada, established for checking and assessing the state of JSC Ukrzaliznytsya, found that the company had lost a third of its fixed assets and believes that the company’s senior leadership needs to be urgently replaced.

This was stated by the head of the VSK Yuliia Hryshyna during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada, the agency Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"We state that the management of Ukrzaliznytsia does not protect and does not develop property and fixed assets entrusted to it by the state. The audit determined the loss of one third of fixed assets. During the five years we have investigated, Ukrzaliznytsia has fulfilled its capital investment plan by only 65%. Almost 30 billion UAH has not been disbursed in this area. As a result, the railway infrastructure is in critical state," Hryshyna noted.

Another reason for the problems, she said, is the significant influence of oligarchic groups that regularly pay to the company less than required, including not adhering to freight rates. According to Grishina, this has deprived Ukrzaliznytsia of 100 billion UAH over the past five years.

"The state Ukrzaliznytsia has found itself in no longer allows it to fully fulfill the tasks of transporting goods and passengers," the Head of TIC believes.

Therefore, the Commission proposed to accelerate the rotation of the Ukrzaliznytsia management.

"There is a certain activity to replace the senior leadership of Ukrzaliznytsia, but it is insufficient. And besides that the Ukrzaliznytsia senior leadership urgently needs to be replaced, these people need to be held accountable in accordance with the points that are indicated in our interim report," Hryshyna said.

She also noted that the next step regarding the senior leadership and the Supervisory Board of the company should be to bring their salaries in line with the efficiency of their work.
