Ukrainian Railways plans to build a railway with a track gauge of 1,435 mm from the Ukraine-Poland border to Lviv. The railway will cover the Mostyska—Sknyliv section.
The announcement was made on the Center for Transport Strategies website.
The design work will be completed by the end of 2023.
"We are completing the development of the design documentation package for a railway with a track gauge of 1,435 mm from the Ukraine-Poland border to Lviv. The railway to be built will cover the Mostyska—Sknyliv section. We have already done the feasibility study. We plan to have the design work for the construction completed in 2023," said Yevhen Liashchenko, Chairman of the Management Board of Ukrainian Railways.
According to him, the implementation of this project will connect Lviv with Krakow, Prague, and Vienna over a European gauge railway.
Earlier, it was announced that Ukrainian Railways plans to connect Warsaw and Lviv with a direct flight by the end of 2023.
