Ukraine can produce 5.5 billion cubic meters of "green" hydrogen—SAEE

Ukraine's potential in the average annual production of "green" hydrogen is at the level of 5.5 billion cubic meters, but for its implementation it is necessary, first of all, to develop appropriate legislation.

This is reported by the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine (SAEE) with reference to the words of the Acting Head of department Konstiantyn Gura.

The department says that according to the goals of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035 to establish the capacities of wind power plants and solar power plants, the average annual production of "green" hydrogen could be 5.5 billion cubic meters.

The SAEE has also indicated measures to achieve the goals set by the Strategy for the Development of Hydrogen Energy in Ukraine until 2050:

  • development of legislation and standards for the production, transportation, storage, and use of hydrogen;
  • development of incentives;
  • implementation of a pilot project for the production of "green" hydrogen;
  • development of hydrogen transportation infrastructure.
