The Armed Forces of Ukraine made progress on the Zaporizhzhia axis, Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar reported.
"Our units made progress to the southeast of Robotyne and to the south of Mala Tokmachka, Zaporizhzhia region," she wrote.
The enemy also tried to regain lost positions to the east of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. However, Ukrainian defenders prevented them from doing it.
The situation on the eastern frontline as of August 21, 2023
Russian forces try to advance on the Kupiansk, Lyman, Avdiivka, and Marinka axes.
The Kupiansk axis
The Russians are assaulting and shelling Ukrainian positions. The Ukrainian forces are repelling the assaults, holding the defense line, and preventing the enemy from advancing;
The Lyman axis
The invaders conducted unsuccessful offensive operations to push back Ukrainian troops near the Serebrianskyi Forestry, Kreminna, and Bilohorivka, Luhansk region;
The enemy suffered significant losses on the Lyman and Kupiansk axes and was forced to regroup and seek reinforcement. However, the invaders do not give up their plans.
The Bakhmut axis
- Northern flank — the Russians are trying to regain the lost position near Zaliznianske, Vasylivka, and Bohdanivka;
- Southern flank — fighting continues in the central part of Klishchiivka, north and west of Andriivka, and north of Kurdiumivka, Donetsk region;
The Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated another 3 square kilometers in a week. The total liberated area on the Bakhmut axis is 43 square kilometers.
The Avdiivka and Marinka axes
The enemy continues to assault, but without success. The Russians are unable to advance. The invaders are also unsuccessfully trying to regain their positions near the liberated Urozhaine and Staromaiorske in the Donetsk region.
