The Pentagon says it has only $5.9 in stock to support Ukraine

The United States Department of Defense revealed the remaining budget to support Ukraine. According to Pentagon press secretary Pat Ryder, it is roughly $5.9 billion.

This was reported by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

This includes $4.8 billion in restored presidential drawdown authority, which allows the president to send military materiel without consultation with Congress. There is also $1.1 billion in existing resources available to backfill U.S. stocks.

At a December 5 briefing, Pat Ryder said that without additional funding, the Department of Defense may soon reach the point where it wouldn’t be able to sustain the current level of security assistance support for Ukraine. He also underscored the importance of further Congressional support for Ukraine in this crucial moment of its campaign to defend its freedom and counter Russian aggression.

Ryder emphasized that the spending decisions were going to be informed by multiple factors, which include Ukraine's immediate needs, equipment availability, and the U.S. capacity to replenish its resources.

The Page earlier reported that the United States had provided a new assistance package for Ukraine on November 3. Its total worth is $425 million.
