The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly designated Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly designated Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism. The Wagner Group was also recognized as a terrorist organization.

Yevheniia Kravchuk, deputy head of the Servant of the People parliamentary group, reported it on Facebook.

At its session in Vancouver, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly adopted a declaration, saying that:

  • terrorism constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security;
  • the actions of the Wagner Group on behalf of the Russian Government can rightly be characterized as terroristic. The declaration emphasizes that the Russian dictator personally admitted that the Wagner Group had been "fully funded" by the Russian state;
  • OSCE participating states must take action against the Wagner Group and its affiliated and successor entities, including through its designation as a terrorist organization.

In addition, the document adopted by the OSCE PA urges participating states to reinforce international norms that clearly recognize the terroristic nature of the Wagner Group and its actions and the responsibility of the Russian Federation as the State sponsor of this terrorist organization. It also emphasizes the inadmissibility of employing such actors in inter-State relations.

Quote"This is the first time such wording has been enshrined in an official document by an international organization," Kravchuk noted.
