Kyiv International Airport has estimated the losses from the ban on air traffic with Belarus

The ban on air traffic with Belarus will lead to the decline in the passenger traffic and income of Kyiv Sikorsky International Airport (Zhuliany) by 10%.

This was stated by the Chairman of the Board of the airport Denys Kostrzhevsky, the agency "Interfax-Ukraine" reports.

According to him, with the imposition of such a ban, it would be logical that the government would offer money compensators to the airport. At the same time, information about the cancellation of the Belavia flight, the plane of which is to arrive on May 25 at 23:40, has not been received.

Quote"But, to quote Don Corleone, when it comes to the honor of the family, money is inappropriate here," he said, adding that the airport supports the government’s decision.

Kostrzhevsky added that in May Kyiv International Airport expected 3,000-4,000 passengers from Minsk, while before quarantine their monthly traffic was 10,000-12,000, and at the peak—up to 15,000. Also, according to him, now Zhuliany works at 25-30% of its capacity due to quarantine.

Context. Ukraine has decided to ban air traffic with Belarus due to the forced landing of a Ryanair plane in Minsk and the detention of Belarusian journalist Roman Protasevich.
