The Armed Forces of Ukraine deem the Russian Defense Ministry’s order on withdrawal of Russian troops from the western bank of the Kherson Region to be a "staged show". According to Natalia Humeniuk, spokesperson for the South Operative Command, this move can well serve as a feint to create "a false impression about their true intentions."
"What has been announced is an attempt to create a certain impression that they are going to spare the lives of soldiers, to spare civilians — and another demonization of the Armed Forces of Ukraine," she said on air at the telethon.
Humeniuk emphasized that military operations are usually held without excessive publicity. Therefore, this "staged show with the annunciation of such serious and tough decisions is a recognizable method of self-indulgence."
She also stressed that the Russians have been creating and fortifying defensive barriers outside Kherson not to yield the city like that. Humeniuk also said that, according to her information, there are still Russian units ready for defense deployed in the regional center.
Context. Earlier today, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu formally ordered the withdrawal of Russian troops from Kherson and the western bank of the Kherson Region in general in front of cameras.
In the President’s Office, the announcement wasn’t taken at face value. Moreover, the Ukrainians were urged not to get euphoric and to trust only official sources of information.
