Russian fascists are trying to gain control over last road to Luhansk region — Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway

The Russian invaders are trying to take control of the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway, which is the last road connecting the occupied Luhansk region with the rest of Ukraine.

This was reported by the head of the Luhansk regional military-civil administration.

"Heavy fighting continues in Rubizhne and Bilohorivka. Today is the decisive day. We will fight for the "lifeline." The Russian fascists are trying to deprive us of our "lifeline," the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway," said Serhiy Hayday.

According to him, the occupiers constructed a pontoon bridge over the Siverskyy Donets River and began transporting equipment over the river.

"If they consolidate, they will be able to proceed with the offensive and get closer to the road, cutting off the Luhansk region. This will mean the loss of the only path to safety and connection with other regions," Hayday said.

The pontoon bridges were afterwards destroyed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine, but the Russian fascists managed to cross the river with a small amount of equipment.

The overall situation in the Luhansk region is consistently difficult. All the free settlements in the region are being shelled. The most difficult situation is in Bilohorivka.
