Ukraine 's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed information about the shelling of a Ukrainian plane at the airport of the Libyan city of Misrata. This happened a little after midnight on August 5th.
The plane underwent a missile attack during unloading, the Foreign Ministry said in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine.
" As a result of the attack, the plane 's tail was destroyed, the operator of the crew was slightly injured, and the passport documents of the air navigator were destroyed. The entire crew of the plane was evacuated to a safe place," the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday, in response to an Interfax-Ukraine's request.
The plane transported humanitarian aid for the Libyan Red Crescent Society and had all the necessary permits.
Now the consuls of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ukrainian Embassy in Tunisia are establishing contact with the crew members to provide the necessary assistance, issuing new documents for the navigator and returning the crew to Ukraine.
