The leadership of the Russian Federation decided to evacuate the personnel of its diplomatic institutions from the territory of Ukraine amid an increased threat.
"Given the circumstances, our first priority is to take care of Russian diplomats and staff of the Embassy and Consulates General. For their own safety, the Russian leadership has decided to evacuate the staff of Russia’s foreign missions in Ukraine soon," the statement on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reads.
The text published on the website of the Russian agency also reports on the "chaos" Ukraine has been plunging deeper and deeper since 2014; about about the "flywheel of Russophobia", "massive offensive against the Russian language", "church schism", "attack against the historical past"; attacks on the Russian Embassy and Consulates. The statement does not mention the risk of invasion or war.
Context. Amid the Russian threat, a number of countries evacuated their diplomats from Kyiv to Lviv. These include the US, UK, Canada, and Israel.
