Acting Prosecutor General Oleksiy Symonenko signed a procedural request for Petro Poroshenko’s (European Solidarity) arrest and a bail in the amount of 1 billion UAH. This is reported by the outlet Glavkom with reference to its own sources close to the Prosecutor General's Office.
Petro Poroshenko is currently on a working visit to Europe. He promised to return to Ukraine in mid-January.
Context. Earlier it was reported that the State Bureau of Investigation had served the former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko with the notice of charges in case of the so-called "coal treason". People's Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk (Opposition Platform—For Life), businessman Serhiy Kuziara, and ex-Minister of Energy Demchyshyn are also named in this case.
