If the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Ukraine continues to deteriorate, the EU authorities may exclude our country from the so-called "green" list. The citizens of the states included in it can freely make tourist trips to the EU.
As Oleg Nikolenko, the Spokesperson of the Ukrainian MFA, pointed out, many countries are now under the threat of leaving the "green" zone—the situation with COVID-19 is exacerbating not only in Ukraine.
"If the EU decides to exclude Ukraine from the green zone, it does not cancel visa-free travel, it only imposes temporary restrictions on non-essential (tourist) travel to counter the spread of coronavirus disease... In the event of a decision, the EU does not automatically impose new border crossing regulations, but only provides recommendations to the member states of the European Union. The final decision on permitting or restricting this or that type of travel of Ukrainian citizens is made by each member state separately at the national level," is stated in his report.
The bloc leadership reviews and updates the composition of the "green zone" every two weeks. Ukrainians can familiarize themselves with up-to-date information on the entry requirements on the interactive map of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Context. As of October 18, the "red" quarantine zone was imposed in five regions (Kherson, Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Odesa, and Zaporizhzhia), but the incidence rate exceeds the permissible value in more than half of the regions. Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, Kirovohrad, Poltava, Rivne, and Ternopil regions are now in the "yellow" zone, the rest are in the "orange" one.
