New regulations for entering Ukraine in July: tests, requirements for Ukrainians and foreigners

The Cabinet of Ministers has amended quarantine standards to counter the spread of the Delta strain of coronavirus. Now all travelers from countries at risk will be tested at the Ukrainian border for COVID-19, the press service of the Ministry of Health reports.

Travelers will be checked by express testing method. According to avianews, the cost of testing should be covered by the traveler. If the test turns out to be positive, persons will not be allowed to enter the territory of Ukraine and they will have to return to the country they arrived from.

If the arrival is a citizen of Ukraine, then in case of a positive test they will be escorted to the sanitary zone for further transportation to the place of observation, self-isolation, or to a hospital for hospitalization. Citizens of Ukraine may not do the test, but in this case, they must undergo observation or self-isolation.

As of June 25, 2021, India, Great Britain, Russia, and Portugal are classified as countries at risk. Countries were included in the list due to the significant spread of the Delta strain. The list of countries will be revised according to the epidemic situation.

Children under 12 years old, regardless of citizenship, are allowed not to do the tests, as well as citizens of Ukraine and foreigners of all ages who arrive from countries outside the risk zone.

The new regulations will come into force on July 2, 2021.

Context. According to the WHO, the Indian Delta strain of coronavirus turned out to be twice as contagious as the Wuhan variant.
