The Verkhovna Rada will consider in the first reading the possibility of introducing fines for violating the self-isolation regime. The initiator of the draft law was the Cabinet of Ministers.
The practice of fines for persons who violate self-isolation after communicating with patients with coronavirus is used by other states. This was stated by the Chairman of the Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy Danylo Hetmantsev.
The bill provides that in the case of violating the mandatory self-isolation or observation that led to the spread of coronavirus, a fine of 200 to 500 (from 3400 to 8500 UAH) of non-taxable income of citizens awaits the offender.
Context. From November 2020, fines for not wearing masks came into force in Ukraine. For staying in public places without masks and respirators covering both nose and mouth, Ukrainians will have to pay from 170 to 255 UAH. In particular, business owners can get fines because of clients who ignore the wearing of masks.
