NATO will not invite Ukraine to negotiations on accession to the Alliance, but it will not demand that Kyiv follow the Membership Action Plan (MAP). This was reported by "Interfax-Ukraine" with reference to its own sources.
"The allies of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization do not invite Ukraine to negotiations on accession, but they have promised to do so when they agree and when the conditions allow," the message reads.
This issue was included in the final communiqué of the meeting of the leaders and governments of the NATO countries in Vilnius. The allies agreed to drop the requirement for Ukraine to follow the MAP.
