President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy submitted a bill "On the extension of martial law in Ukraine" to the Verkhovna Rada.
The bill was submitted on April 19 and is now under consideration by the Verkhovna Rada Committee.
According to the presidential decree, martial law is proposed to be extended for 30 days — until May 25, 2022.
Recall that martial law in Ukraine was imposed on February 24 after the military aggression of the Russian Federation against our country had started. The Verkhovna Rada extended martial law from March 15 to April 25.
On February 23, the National Security and Defense Council proposed imposing a state of emergency on the territory of Ukraine, except for the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, because the JFO regime was in effect there. This happened after Russian President Vladimir Putin had signed decrees on February 21 recognizing the so-called DPR and LPR as independent.
