German Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has joined the Defense Industries Alliance

Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, a German defense company, has joined the Defense Industries Alliance, according to Oleksandr Kamyshin, Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries.

Quote"The company СЕО, Ralf Ketzel, has given us the necessary signed documents today at the German-Ukrainian Business Forum in Berlin. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann, or KMW, is our important partner. It is the producer of Leopard battle tanks, Panzerhaubitze 2000 howitzers, and Gepard anti-aircraft guns", Kamyshin wrote.

On September 30, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi announced the creation of the Defense Industries Alliance. Thirteen arms manufacturers have already joined it.

According to the head of the state, a special economic regime will be established for alliance members. This will help unleash the potential of each of the manufacturers working for Ukraine’s defense.

Zelenskyi also announced the establishment of the Defense Fund, which will provide additional resources for the development of production and the creation of new military facilities and programs. The Fund will be replenished through dividends from state-owned defense assets and profits from the sale of confiscated Russian assets.

Earlier, we reported that Ukrainian Defense Industry JSC and Rheinmetall set up a joint venture on October 18. The new company’s operations will include the manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of military equipment. The agreement will provide Ukraine with advanced German military technologies, additional jobs, and faster delivery of military equipment from Germany.
